No Quarter Given: The embodiment begins

04/08/08  ||  Lord K Philipson

The first thing to throw me fucken completely off is the incredibly shitty production displayed on this album. The guitars are too low, the drums (especially the kicks) are too triggered and too high in the mix. If you find a bass in this picture I’ll give you a dollar. As you can see, we are not exactly starting off on the right foot here. Not even the left when I think about it.

I read somewhere that fans of Hatebreed would enjoy this… Well, since Hatebreed is the fucken Mount Everest of Suck I wouldn’t exactly make that statement a promotional issue.

No Quarter Given hail from England, the very same country that gave us Acid Reign (you can never put enough references to these guys when it comes to England) and Cathedral – forever placing itself in the world of metal as a country with little to deliver. No Quarter Given will, with its shit name, continue on that path. I mentioned Hatebreed a second ago, if that wasn’t enough to make you stay away from this band, I don’t know what will. I hate this breakdown, melodic, non-brutal, weak sounding half metal with shit vocals and songwriting on par with Tara Reid’s infamous boob-job gone fuck-wrong.

And by the way, did someone even master this album before releasing it? If so, here’s a tip for ya: don’t use him for the next album – if anyone lets you release another one, that is.

It’s not like we need it.

2,5/10.
